Materials: felt, metal thread
Not as tall as some Shriner’s fez hats I’ve seen, it has no tassle or top nub. It is however the same sort of heavy wool with that mysterious old, tight metallic bullion embroidery found in this sort of fraternal order piece.
Hat has “Rameses” in bold across the top with a scimitar, crescent, Egyptian medallion, and star. There’s a section of cotton padding sewn onto the inside at the front (probably to protect one’s forehead and hair from the backside of the bullion). It also has a label inside the top (see photo) that reads: Regalia Jewels Ambrose Kent and Sons, 156 Yonge St., Toronto, in silver thread.
